English Language Requirements
Nile Valley University requires all applicants whose first language is not English to demonstrate proficiency in English to ensure academic success in our programs.
IELTS Requirements
For most programs, applicants must achieve a minimum IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each band and 6.0 in speaking.
- Overall band score: 6.0 minimum
- Reading: 5.5 minimum
- Writing: 5.5 minimum
- Listening: 5.5 minimum
- Speaking: 6.0 minimum
TOEFL Requirements
We also accept TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores as an alternative to IELTS.
- TOEFL iBT: 80 minimum
- TOEFL PBT: 550 minimum
- Scores must be from a test taken within the last two years
Other Accepted Tests
We may also accept other recognized English proficiency tests. Please contact our admissions office for more information.
- Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE)
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic
- Duolingo English Test (subject to approval)
Exemptions
You may be exempt from English language requirements if:
- You have completed your secondary education in an English-speaking country
- You have completed a degree program taught entirely in English
- You are a native English speaker
Conditional Admission
In some cases, students who meet all other admission requirements but have not yet achieved the required English language proficiency may be offered conditional admission. These students will be required to complete an English language preparation program before beginning their degree studies.
